Real Madrid's announcement of the Turkish sensation's signing now stands as the most favourited tweet in the club's history, garnering over 850,000 likes, Madrid XTRA reported.

Only Cristiano Ronaldo's return to Manchester United (1.8 million) garnered more likes than the welcoming tweet for Guler.

The 18-year-old's new feat surpassed Lionel Messi's announcement at PSG, making it the 2nd most-liked transfer announcement on Twitter.

Arda Guler Messi comparison

Being compared to Lionel Messi is a rite of passage for any emerging talent, and Arda Guler is no different.

The diminutive forward attracted plenty of attention from some of Europe's biggest clubs this summer, having been excitingly dubbed 'The Turkish Messi' some time ago.

Fenerbahce were eager to keep Guler around as they looked to close the gap on Galatasaray at the top of the Super Lig next season, but the writing was already on the wall.

Interest in the 18-year-old came from far and wide, with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Borussia Dortmund just some of the clubs in the running.

In the end, Los Blancos triumphed, with the Spanish giants beating everyone else to his signature. They committed to pay in excess of his release clause by agreeing to an initial €20 million fee, with a potential €10 million more due in add-ons, according to reports per Goal.

Guler scores Messi-esque goal

Sports Brief reported earlier that Real Madrid’s new signings have consistently impressed in their pre-season training. Tuesday saw Brahim Diaz score a Messi-esque goal which sent Real Madrid fans into a frenzy.

Still drooling over that worldie by the Spanish forward, youngster Arda Guler took things a nudge higher as he treated the fans to another sensational goal.
