Gareth Bale in December brought to an end his illustrious trophy ladened career, after successfully guiding Wales to their first FIFA World Cup tournament in 64 years.
The Welshman played for a number of clubs including Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League and ended his club career in MLS with LAFC.
But it was with Real Madrid that he enjoyed his greatest success, winning La Liga three times and being crowned European champion on five occasions.
In a recent interview with The Times, the former Real Madrid man was quizzed about his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo, of which he indicated the latter was difficult to be around after a game if he failed to score, even if the team won.
“I never had a single problem with Ronaldo or anybody at Real Madrid,”
“I don’t think I had an argument with anyone. Even through the hard times, it was good in the changing room.
“I really enjoyed my time there apart from a few moments where it was difficult on the pitch. I have no regrets. I made the right decision.
“Cristiano and Benzema were big reasons why I joined Madrid, to play with them and the others like Modric, Alonso and later, Toni Kroos.
“I never wanted to be a Galactico. I just wanted to play and then disappear into the dark.”
