Diego Simeone will not join the bandwagon heading to Saudi Arabia, at least not this summer as he showed his loyalty to Atletico Madrid one more time.
The 53-year-old manager, who joined Rojiblancos in 2011, is ready to see out his contract with the La Liga club after extending his deal with the until 2024 when he signed an extra two-year deal.
According to ESPN, Simeone has turned down a very lucrative offer from Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli and is now set to remain at Atletico Madrid for the 2023/24 season.
Sources have also said this is not the first time the Saudi club have inquired about Simeone's services and that another lucrative offer was also tabled to the Argentina manager this past May.
Atletico Madrid will be aiming to get back in the title race next season, and with Simeone at the helm, they will certainly have a good chance of doing so.
Atletico to offer Simeone extension
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid has decided they will offer what many regard to be their greatest coach of all time, Diego Simeone, a new contract, Football Espana reports.
This summer transfer window, Atletico Madrid plan to make minor adjustments to their playing squad before beginning negotiations over a new deal for the 53-year-old manager.
Rojiblancos plan to offer their most successful manager a contract of one or two years, with an option for a further year.
