  • Inter Milan sporting director, Piero Ausilio has admitted to spying on players' partners on Instagram
  • Ausilio claimed a problematic player's wife led him to open a burner account
  • He added that he follows players, even those from other clubs, but specifically wives and girlfriends

Inter Milan sporting director, Piero Ausilio has admitted to using unorthodox means to follow his player's lifestyles and understand their activities using the 'eyes' of their partners.

Football stars are big users of social media to interact with fans, unwind, and keep their followers up to date with their activities, especially during the off season when they are on vacation.

Some footballers keep a very low profile on the internet, while others are highly active. The wives and girlfriends of many players are the 'eyes' through which you can see them.

Recently, clubs have been moving to control their stars' activities on social platforms, after Borussia Dortmund inserted an Instagram clause in new signing, Felix Nmecha's contract to avoid a repeat of his past 'homophobic' activities.

Ausilio claimed that a player's wife, who in the past gave him 'problems', led him to create a burner account and spy on the wives and girlfriends of Inter players.

"Now I confess one thing. I don't have an official Instagram account, but I did set one up because the famous wife of a player was causing me problems," he said, via Mirror UK.
"Many things can be understood from wives and girlfriends, including the footballer's personality."

The 48-year-old made no mention of any player, but Daily Star speculated that it was former striker, Mauro Icardi, whose wife and agent, Wanda Nara was a thorn in the Nerrazzuri's flesh during the striker's six-year stay at the San Siro.

Ronnie hits 1m IG followers

Sports Brief reported that Phil Foden's son Ronnie hit 1 million Instagram followers after an account was opened for him after the Champions League final.

He shot to fame for his celebration antics after the final in Istanbul and became a fan favourite, which earned him the nickname 'El Wey' from Spanish fans, which means 'the dude'.

The account is now verified and has crossed the three million-follower mark. Both parents manage it as they preserve memories for their boy.
