  • Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from Tottenham
  • Bayern Munich are in the race to sign the wantaway forward
  • Bastian Schweinsteiger has given his take on the forward’s transfer

Bayern Munich Icon Bastian Schweinsteiger has revealed his take on his former club acquiring the service of Tottenham’s forward Harry Kane.

Schweinsteiger believes Kane will not leave Tottenham this summer amid interest from his former club Bayern Munich.

Kane has entered the final year of his contract at Spurs and has been offered bumper new terms to recommit, though the Guardian understands the striker currently has no plans on signing while the transfer window remains open.

Bayern believes they have a chance to lure Kane away despite Spurs having already rejected their opening bid of £60m and reiterated that their talisman is not for sale, and Schweinsteiger does not expect that stance to change.

Schweinsteiger speaks on Kane’s transfer

The World Cup winner in an interview with talksport, when asked about his former club’s potential of signing Kane said:

"Yes, 100 per cent. Bayern is looking for a striker, a forward, a proper striker like Robert Lewandowski. Eric Choupo-Moting is not good enough for Bayern Munich, he is more the ‘B’ solution.
"Bayern Munich, of course, would like to sign Harry Kane, but I also know that Bayern is not a club who will pay as much money as maybe the owner of Tottenham is asking for!
"So there will be one guy [at Bayern] who puts the fist on the table and says, 'No, we are not paying so much' but they’re looking for a striker, that’s for sure."

Asked if Kane would suit German football, Schweinsteiger said:

"He looks like a German almost with his blonde hair! Yeah definitely, I think it would be a great fit.
"Also for him, he has to ask himself, does he want to win a title in his life and his career as a football player? Like a championship or a Champions League.
"I know he’s a person who likes to have his family and friends around him, and Munich is the best place for it. You have a beautiful area around where you can live, where your family can grow up, it’s safe.
"Also the experience abroad, which I had when I went to Manchester United, helped me a lot and I grew as a person as well.
And of course, as a football player, he would have a very good team around him and a very good coach. So a lot of things are speaking for that."

Toure issues Kane transfer advice

Sports Brief previously reported former Man City midfielder Yaya Toure issued transfer advice to Harry Kane as the Tottenham striker goes through the motions about his club for next season as Bayern Munich's interest intensifies.

Kane has a contract till 2024 but could explore his options elsewhere as he hopes to rid his career of the stigma of having never won a trophy.

It remains to be seen where the immediate future of the England captain lies.
