Carlo Ancelotti’s second stint at Real Madrid is set to come to an end, and Los Blancos will certainly be in search of another world-class manager to take the reins at the club.

The veteran Italian manager will reportedly become Brazil’s national team manager next summer when his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium expires in 2024.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Italian tactician will take charge of the Selecao in time for the Copa America, when the 12-month contract of Fluminense boss, Fernando Diniz, expires.

Ancelotti's departure will leave a big hole to fill in Real Madrid’s coaching department as the manager is a proven winner, proven by his successes in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

Sports Brief, alongside GOAL, takes a look at the leading candidates to replace the 64-year-old manager when he eventually leaves the Spanish capital next summer.

5. Julian Nagelsmann

Julian Nagelsmann has been linked with Real Madrid ever since Bayern Munich sensationally sacked him in March.

The German manager, linked with the Chelsea, Napoli, and Tottenham Hotspur jobs this summer, is still considered one of the most imaginative young managers in the game today.

Nagelsmann is prepared to wait for the right offer, and it will not be surprising if Real Madrid puts a call through to the German if he is available next summer.

4. Jose Mourinho

Known as the 'Special One', Jose Mourinho is certainly a fan favourite everywhere he has managed.

He spent three seasons at Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, winning three trophies in that time: a Copa del Rey, a Spanish Super Cup, and a La Liga title, as Fansided reports.

After back-to-back European finals with Italian outfit, AS Roma, the Portuguese manager has shown he still has what it takes to succeed at the top level and will therefore be in the conversation for a return to the Santiago Bernabeu next summer.

3. Alvaro Arbeloa

Some may be surprised to see Alvaro Arbeloa on this list, but he is highly regarded at Real Madrid.

The Spaniard, who played for Real Madrid twice, is creating a reputation for himself at the youth level - he presently trains the club's junior team - and is being tipped as a future manager of Los Blancos.

2. Zinedine Zidane

Zinedine Zidane has a rich history with Real Madrid as a player and manager.

The Frenchman won the UEFA Champions League once as a player and three times during his first stint as manager of the Spanish giants.

Zidane is being touted for a possible return to Real Madrid as the replacement for Ancelotti, owing to his success at the club and his good knowledge of the team.

The Frenchman parted ways with the club in 2021, after a trophyless season, but recently admitted he would like to start coaching again, as he feels he still has plenty more to give.

1. Xabi Alonso

Xabi Alonso is currently the frontrunner for the Real Madrid job.

The Spaniard would undoubtedly be a popular choice, having played for five years at the Santiago Bernabeu, winning La Liga and the UEFA Champions League during that period.

Alonso guided Bayer Leverkusen to sixth place in the Bundesliga last season after taking over in October with the team second from the bottom.

Despite interest from Tottenham, the ex-Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder has committed to the Germans for another season, which means the time is right and the former midfielder could be available next summer.

Ancelotti to become Brazil coach

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Real Madrid manager, Ancelotti being selected as Brazil coach ahead of the upcoming Copa America, which will take place in the United States next summer.

This announcement was confirmed by Ednaldo Rodrigues, the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, who also appointed Fernando Diniz as the interim coach for the next 12 months.

Veteran tactician, Ancelotti, will have the responsibility of guiding Brazil towards their sixth World Cup triumph, a feat that would solidify his status as one of the greatest head coaches in history.
