  • David De Gea's contract at Manchester United expired on June 30, and he is now a free agent
  • He has reportedly been told not to join any club yet as discussions continue over a new contract
  • United's shop's latest activity may have dropped the strongest hint the Spanish shot-stopper will continue at the club

Manchester United may have dropped the strongest possible hint that David De Gea will remain at the club next season, despite his contract expiring at the end of last month.

The Spanish shot-stopper was named on the released list when the club announced its yearly list, despite negotiations ongoing over a new contract.

Sports Brief noted that De Gea is the last member of United's Premier League winning squad, the last time they won the title.

Sun Sport reported that despite the expiration of his contract, the club have asked him not to join any other club yet in case they are unsuccessful in their attempt to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan.

United drop de Gea hint

The Red Devils launched their 2023/24 home kit on Tuesday, June 27, and even though de Gea was not part of the promotion, the club shop may have hinted he would stay.

Sports Brief observed that his name was printed on the goalkeeper's kit on the club's online store, which suggests a new contract may have been agreed upon and only an announcement is left to be made.

The former Atletico Madrid goalie was the club's highest-paid player with a weekly wage of £375,000, but Sports Brief reported that he could help academy star Marcus Rashford become the new highest-paid player.

Rashford has one year left on his current deal and is expected to earn a whopping £375k a week, which the Spaniard was earning before, while he may sign a new deal for reduced wages of £200k.

De Gea linked with Al-Nassr

Sports Brief reported that De Gea could reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia after reports emerged that Al-Nassr have the goalkeeper on their list for a possible transfer.

Ronaldo became the frontier breaker for top European stars flooding the Gulf State after he sealed a sensational move in January after mutually terminating his Old Trafford contract.
