- The Argentine is set to be joined by a few other European elite players
- Messi's former Paris Saint-Germain teammate could join him in Florida
Inter Miami are reportedly in talks with Sergio Ramos over a transfer to the United States, which could see him link up with former Paris Saint-Germain teammate, Lionel Messi.
Following the expiry of his PSG contract, Messi is now officially a Miami player, as is his former Barcelona colleague, Sergio Busquets, who moved to the MLS side as a free agent.
According to SPORT, Inter Miami, which is co-owned by David Beckham, has opened talks with Ramos about a potential switch to Florida.
The 37-year-old centre-back is currently a free agent, having joined Messi in leaving the Parisians after two seasons with the Ligue 1 giants.
Prior to their time together in Paris, the veterans spent 16 years as La Liga adversaries, most notably in El Clasico clashes between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Ramos has been linked with a return to his boyhood club, Sevilla, but the ex-Real Madrid star could perhaps follow compatriot, Busquets, to Miami instead.
Alba to join Inter Miami?
Meanwhile, reports from Marca have stated Inter Miami are also expected to complete a move for Jordi Alba, another of Messi and Busquets' former Barca teammates.
If the MLS side lands all four players -Messi, Alba, Busquets, and Ramos, it would be nothing short of seismic for the reputation of the American league itself.
It is also worth noting that Ramos and Inter Miami co-owner, Beckham, played together at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium outfit for two seasons.
Messi’s MLS debut delayed
Sports Brief previously reported that Argentine superstar, Messi’s MLS debut could be delayed due to the American league's regulations making him ineligible for the All-Star Game.
It remains to be seen if the rules would be bent to accommodate the 2022 World Cup winner, who recently stunned the football world with a switch from Europe to join Inter Miami.
