FootballMan United Draw Two Man Goalkeeper Shortlist As Andre Onana Proves Too Expensive
- Andre Onana's move to Manchester United could be derailed by a lack of funds
- United are operating on a shoe-string budget and might fail to live up to Inter Milan's demands
- David de Gea is out of contract, leaving Erik ten Hag with a goalkeeper headache ahead of preseason
Manchester United have reportedly come up with a new goalkeeper shortlist after it emerged that priority target Andre Onana might be too costly.
Onana has been United's top target, with David de Gea's contract having lapsed and no sight of an extension so far.
However, the club might not have enough funds to land the Inter Milan goalkeeper. It has been reported before that Erik ten Hag will only have close to 120 million euros to spend on new players so as to conform to Financial Fair Play rules.
Of the 120m, nearly half of it will go to Chelsea for the purchase of Mason Mount. The midfielder is expected to ditch London for Manchester and sign a five-year deal at the Theatre of Dreams, as reported by Sky Sports.
United's goalkeeping targets
As the Mirror reports, Inter Milan are holding out for a similar fee to sell Onana, who has been a revelation since he moved to the Serie A from Ajax. The asking price will see United look for other alternatives in the market.
The same publication reports that the Red Devils are now training their focus on Feyenoord's Justin Bijlow and Eintracht Frankfurt's Kevin Trapp. The former could cost around 25 million euros while the more experienced Trapp could cost 10 million euros.
Ten Hag's side could still move in for Onana comfortably, should they be able to sell players. Dean Henderson could complete a permanent move to Nottingham Forrest.

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Inter CEO Beppe Marotta recently confirmed Manchester United are interested in goalkeeper Andre Onana.
The Cameroon shot-stopper has seen his ratings impressively rise after a superb season with the Nerazurri, who he helped reach the Champions League final.
Red Devils chiefs were scheduled to meet with Inter general manager Piero Ausilio on Friday, but the meeting did not take place as Ausilio was caught up in Marcelo Brozovic’s transfer to Saudi Arabia.
