Phil Foden certainly knows a thing or two about Nigerian music after he shared a video of himself jogging the ball on holiday with a viral Afrobeat song in the background.
Foden helped Manchester City complete a historic treble after beating Iran giants Inter Milan 1-0 in the final at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.
He started the final on the bench as opposed to starting the 2021 edition but replaced Kevin De Bruyne in the 33rd minute after the Belgian playmaker tore his hamstring.
He flourished in a midfield role and agreed with Pep Guardiola’s thoughts that he could be the successor to KDB, having previously deputised for the same man in the 6-3 win over RB Leipzig in the UCL quarter-final in 2021, as The Telegraph reports.
Foden jams to Davido’s unavailable
As seen in a video reshared on Twitter by Manchester City, the shirtless Foden filmed himself jogging the ball while Davido’s unavailable was playing in the background.
Unavailable is a hit single off the Nigerian’s recent global album, Timeless, which has topped charts worldwide as the amapiano hitmaker continues to enjoy trends on the airwaves.
The treble-winners are expected to report back for pre-season training on July 11, a week after most Premier League clubs, as they are enjoying an extended break due to UCL final involvement.
Foden’s son surpasses 1m followers
Sports Brief reported that Foden’s son, Ronnie surpassed 1 million Instagram followers within 24 hours of joining the photo-sharing platform.
Ronnie, 4, shot to fame with his charismatic celebration during City’s treble party and was instantly given the nickname ‘El Wey’, which means the dude by Spanish fans.
Fans asked to see more of him which prompted an IG account manager by his parents to be opened for him, and as of the time of this publication, was already on 3.1 million followers.
