- Asamoah Gyan has reacted to the team's poor display against Guinea
Former Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan has expressed disappointment following the Black Meteors' early exit from the Africa U23 Cup of Nations.
The Ghana U23 team failed to qualify for next summer's Olympic Games after a 1-1 draw against Guinea in their final Group A game.
Having finished the tournament with four points, same as Guinea, the Black Meteors were beaten to a semi-final spot by their West African rivals on goal difference rule.
Gyan, who was part of the last Black Meteors team to play at the Olympics, vented his frustration at the current squad, describing some players as egoistic.
"What I saw in this Black meteors team is some players think they are bigger than the whole team. Small hype and fame ? SHM. Modern football is not about only what you do with the ball. It’s about what you do without the ball. I see players thinking the can play alone. It’s about time we wake up and defend when we lose the ball. SMH," wrote the former Black Stars striker on Twitter.
The 37-year-old recently announced his retirement from the sport after almost two decades with the Ghana national teams.

Ghanaians react after Morocco defeat
Ghanaians have been left disappointed following the Black Meteors' heavy defeat to Morocco at the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations.
The Black Meteors suffered a 5-1 defeat at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium on Tuesday night, leaving the team in dire need of a win in their final group match against Guinea to progress to the second round.
A brace from Ismael Saibairi and strikes from Michael Richardson, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, and Yanis Begraoui ensured the Moroccans are through to the semis. Salim Adams got a consolation for Ghana.
