Liverpool are set to bolster their midfield.

According to BBC, a meeting has already occurred between the representatives of Liverpool and the Hungary attacking midfielder.

Teams only had until Friday to activate the release clause for Szoboszlai, who has also been linked with a move to Newcastle United.

Szoboszlai starred for Leipzig

He made 31 appearances for Leipzig in the German Bundesliga last season, recording six goals and eight assists.

He has been a revelation for them since transferring from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg in January 2021.

Szoboszlai scored 20 goals and registered 21 assists in 91 appearances for the German club.

He helped Leipzig win the German Cup for the second straight year last May, scoring one of the goals in the 2-0 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt in the final, per The Guardian.

Liverpool strengthened their midfield last month with the signing of Argentina international and World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister from Premier League side Brighton for £35 million.

There is a need for Reds manager Jurgen Klopp to sign midfielders, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, and James Milner all leaving Liverpool this summer.

Carvalho joins Leipzig on loan

Liverpool and Leipzig also made another transaction on Friday, with Reds forward Fabio Carvalho joining the German side on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old joined Liverpool last summer from Fulham for an initial £5 million.

The Portuguese youngster made 21 appearances for Liverpool last campaign. He started eight matches for the Reds and scored three goals.

Jackson moves to Chelsea

Sports Brief recently reported on Chelsea signing Jackson from Villareal.

The Senegal international has signed an eight-year deal with the English side.

He impressed in La Liga last season, scoring 12 goals in 26 appearances.
