The Premier League giants are close to signing RB Leipzig midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai after they triggered his £60.1 million release clause.
The 22-year-old was a vital cog for a Leipzig team that won the German Cup and finished third in the Bundesliga last season.
According to BBC, a meeting has already occurred between the representatives of Liverpool and the Hungary attacking midfielder.
Teams only had until Friday to activate the release clause for Szoboszlai, who has also been linked with a move to Newcastle United.
Szoboszlai starred for Leipzig
He made 31 appearances for Leipzig in the German Bundesliga last season, recording six goals and eight assists.
He has been a revelation for them since transferring from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg in January 2021.
Szoboszlai scored 20 goals and registered 21 assists in 91 appearances for the German club.
He helped Leipzig win the German Cup for the second straight year last May, scoring one of the goals in the 2-0 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt in the final, per The Guardian.
Liverpool strengthened their midfield last month with the signing of Argentina international and World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister from Premier League side Brighton for £35 million.
There is a need for Reds manager Jurgen Klopp to sign midfielders, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, and James Milner all leaving Liverpool this summer.
Carvalho joins Leipzig on loan
Liverpool and Leipzig also made another transaction on Friday, with Reds forward Fabio Carvalho joining the German side on a season-long loan.
