Man Utd could pull out of Kane's alternative deal due to asking price
FootballMason Mount: Man United Could End Up Paying Less Than £60M Fee if They Don’t Win Trophies
Manchester United and Chelsea reached an agreement over the transfer of Mason Mount
The total fee for the transfer is worth £60m including add-ons which are attached to success
Mount will earn a mouthwatering £250,000 per week which could rise with bonuses
Manchester United could end up not paying the £5m add-on on Mason Mount’s transfer as they might be a bit difficult to achieve.
Mount had one year left on his current contract and would walk for free next season if he was not sold and he was not willing to extend his current deal, having rejected multiple offers.
The transfer dragged on for a few weeks, with United unwilling to pay Chelsea’s asking price of £75m rejecting multiple bids in the process.
In the end, both clubs hit a favourable compromise, but it appears the buying club got an intelligent deal with the conditions of the bonuses.
Manchester United’s smart business
The Athletic reported that a deal was agreed for a total of £60m, with a guaranteed £55m to be paid and a difficult add-on worth £5m.
The Telegraph adds that the Red Devils see it as a fair deal because of the conditions of the add-ons which are attached to the deal as it is strongly dependent on success and appearances.
According to Goal, the reported £5m add-on will be paid if United win the Premier League title or UEFA Champions multiple times during Mount’s stay.
The 24-year-old helped his boyhood club to a UCL triumph in 2021 but United are yet to win it since beating the London club on penalties in the 2008 final in Moscow.
The Old Trafford outfit have not won the league title since 2013 and only recently ended a six-year trophy drought with a Carabao Cup victory under Erik ten Hag.

FootballChelsea pride in Reece James
Sports Brief reported that Chelsea took pride in Reece James after the defender responded to a fan teasing a move to Arsenal for him.
The club’s Twitter was quick to brand him ‘One of our own’, aiming a dig at Arsenal and at Mount, an academy star joining a rival club, Manchester United.
