Iheanacho wins big award

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Kelechi Iheanacho was named as Leicester City's best player for the 2022/23 Premier League season despite the club losing its status in the English top flight.

Despite featuring in only 13 Premier League games in the just-concluded season, the Nigerian star managed to score five goals for the Foxes.

Iheanacho who did not get enough playing time last season at Leicester City explained that he was unhappy after the club was relegated, stressing that the target is for them to work hard and return next season.

Iheanacho is now the first Nigerian to win Leicester City's Player of the Year and the first African to win the award since Algerian forward, Riyad Mahrez did the same in 2016.
