Dutch giants, Ajax Amsterdam, have congratulated their star, Mohammed Kudus, after he won the Ghana Footballer of the Year prize at the 2023 Ghana Football Awards on June 25.

The in-demand attacking midfielder fended off competition from KRC Genk winger, Joseph Paintsil, and Abdul Samed Salis of RC Lens to win the coveted award.

Kudus won the accolade after an outstanding season for both club and country, including scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists for the Dutch Eredivisie team.

Ajax immediately took to social media to celebrate the talented midfielder, who could leave the Netherlands in the summer transfer window.

"Player of the Year at the Ghana Football Awards: Mohammed Kudus. Congrats Mo," the club wrote on Twitter.

The Right to Dream Academy graduate shared his excitement after winning the award, dedicating his achievement to his club, teammates, and coaches.

"A journey of dedication, resilience and relentless pursuit of greatness for a voice and a purpose. To my family, Nima, coaches and teammates, this is for you. Together, we make football more than a game. Here's to the beautiful game that unites Ghana [and] to the bright future ahead!" Kudus wrote on Twitter after receiving the award.

The 22-year-old is attracting interest from several clubs in Europe, with Brighton and Hove Albion reportedly preparing an offer for the Ghana international, as reported by transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano.

Other clubs reportedly interested in the midfielder are Manchester United and Chelsea.

Gyan shares moment with Kudus

Sports Brief also reported on the legendary Asamoah Gyan and Kudus sharing a moment at the Ghana Football Awards in Accra on June 25.

The Ajax Amsterdam star midfielder was named the Ghana Footballer of the Year after an outstanding season with both his club and his country.

Kudus was the best player for the Black Stars at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, scoring two goals and providing one assist in three games.
