FootballShauwn Mkhize: Royal AM’s Owner Vows to Win the DStv Premiership
- Royal AM owner, Shauwn Mkhize has promised that her side will win the DStv Premiership before she quits the sport
- Mkhize also touched on how she deals with being a woman in a sport dominated by males who don't see her efforts
- The KwaZulu-Natal side were recently ordered to pay striker Samir Nurkovic R12 million after terminating his contract
Shauwn Mkhize is a woman on a mission.
Not only is she looking to prove herself as a woman in a male-dominated profession, but she also wants to win titles while doing so.
As noted by iDiski Times, the Royal AM owner is determined to win the DStv Premiership, saying that she won’t leave the sport until she does so.
“Who said it is Mamelodi Sundowns only that is going to win the league? No matter how long it takes me, I will only leave football once I have won the league,” she said.
“I’m going to fight, fight until I win the league,” she added.
Mkhize: I am a rebel
The Thwili Thwala owner also opened up on what it is like being a woman in football, saying she came into the sport as a rebel.
“I came in football, and I was a rebel. I was the first woman to stop the playoffs, something that was never seen before,” she explained.
She added that she was fighting for her rights and proving people wrong, but men didn’t see it.
“When men look at us (women), they want us to do the wrong things or take our underwear down and get to where they want to be, but that’s not who we are,” MaMkhize said.
Mkhize is proving others wrong, as her Royal AM side enjoyed an excellent debut season in the league, but less so last season.
It's not only their form on the field that has garnered attention; they have also been embroiled in controversy.
