  • Chelsea are currently clearing out their current squad as they usher in a new reign under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettion
  • Several members of the 2021 Champions League-winning squad look set to depart the club this summer
  • Antonio Rudiger, Jorginho, and Timo Werner are among the players who won the UCL with the Blues and have since departed

Chelsea’s huge transfer clearout could see just three players from their 2021 Champions League-winning squad left at the club next season.

The Blues have embarked on a serious squad overhaul that could see a number of key squad members depart the club this summer.

According to The Sun, as many as eight players from the team that stunned Manchester City 1-0 in Lisbon to win the 2021 Champions League title look set to depart.

The publication reports that Todd Boehly, who bought the club in May 2022, continues to oversee a major overhaul of the playing squad after splashing out more than £600million on transfers last season.

And with plenty more new players coming in, a lot more players from the current team are expected to pass through the Stamford Bridge exit door.

State of Chelsea's 2021 UCL squad

Edouard Mendy, who started in goal in the final, is on the brink of joining Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, per talkSPORT.

Of the three centre-backs who featured in the tie, only Thiago Silva could remain at the club, with Antonio Rudiger already long gone and Cesar Azpilicueta linked with a move to Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.

Wing-backs Reece James and Ben Chilwell remain key cogs, while the entire midfield and attack have either been sold or look set to move on.

Jorginho moved to Arsenal in January, whereas Timo Werner sealed a return to RB Leipzig last summer.

Kai Havertz look set to join the Gunners, and Mason Mount has been linked with a possible switch to Manchester United.

Mount waves goodbye to fans

Sports Brief also reported that Mount appeared to wave goodbye to Chelsea fans after their season's final game against Newcastle United, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

During the routine lap of honour at the end of the season, the academy star looked emotional as he applauded the fans in what was a very emotional moment.
