Ibrahim Gusau, the President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), has revealed his board wants to seek the opinions of Nigerians on the future of Jose Peseiro as the Super Eagles coach.
Peseiro was appointed in June 2022 under the board led by former chief, Amaju Pinnick, with the Portuguese manager hired after the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The former Venezuelan national team gaffer has been in charge for the three-time African champions' last nine games, winning four and losing five.
Football fans in the country and pundits have suggested Peseiro is not the right man for the job, with the names of former Super Eagles stars, Finidi George and Emmanuel Amuneke, mentioned as possible replacements.
According to the reports by Soccernet and Daily Post, Gusau has explained the NFF will seek public opinion first, before making a final decision on whether to keep the current coach or axe him.

The NFF chief said there was a plan to leave the decision to Nigerians and hear their views about the situation.
"We tried the foreign coaches and also the home-based coaches, and it seems all were having some kind of problems. But maybe we did not get it right in the area of getting the right person for the role. But we are surely going to push it to the public whether to continue with Peseiro or let him go,” he stated.
