- Nigerian forward, Kelechi Iheanacho could be making a move to Nottingham Forest
- Iheanacho's club Leicester City were relegated last season from the Premier League
- Forest want to reunite Iheanacho with Taiwo Awoniyi next term in the EPL
After escaping relegation from the Premier League last season, those in charge of Nottingham Forest are now preparing to bolster their squad ahead of their campaign next term.
One man who stood out last season for Forest was Taiwo Awoniyi, as his 10 goals in the Premier League on his debut term helped his side to survive.
Awoniyi won the hearts of Forest fans as he scored some important goals against Chelsea and Arsenal that helped the team.
Forest executives don't want the team to struggle next term in the Premier League and they want to do everything possible to bring some fresh legs into the squad.
According to reports on Own Goal Nigeria and All Nigeria Soccer, Forest want to bring in Kelechi Iheanacho to be Awoniyi's partner up front.
Iheanacho relegated with Leicester
Leicester City got relegated at the end of last season, which means that Iheanacho would have to play in the Championship next season if he should decide to remain at the club.
Joining Forest will be a good chance for the Super Eagles forward to remain in the top flight.
Meanwhile, Iheanacho and Awoniyi were among the Super Eagles players that beat Sierra Leone 3-2 on Sunday, June 18, to qualify for the 2023 African Cup of Nations.
Iheanacho wins prestigious Leicester award
Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Kelechi Iheanacho was named as Leicester City's best player for the 2022/23 Premier League season despite the club losing its status in the English top flight.
Despite featuring in only 13 Premier League games in the season, the Nigerian star managed to score five goals for the Foxes.
Iheanacho, who did not get enough playing time last season at Leicester City, explained that he was unhappy after the club was relegated, stressing that the target is for them to work hard and return next season.
