Royal AM are defiant that they won't be paying Samir Nurkovic any money, despite a recent FIFA ruling.

The KwaZulu-Natal club were ordered to pay the former striker after his contract was terminated after two months without any compensation.

Nurkovic, who formally played for Kaizer Chiefs, failed to make his professional debut for the Thwili Thwala before his contract was terminated. He was injured at the time.

Nurkovic's lawyer, Davor Lazic then took the matter to FIFA, and after an investigation into the case, the sport's governing body ruled in his favour.

As noted by Kick Off, Lazic claimed that Royal AM had failed to appeal the matter and had no choice but to pay the FIFA-imposed fine or face further consequences.

"If they don’t do that as of June 19, then the consequences will be applicable, including the club being banned from registering any new players until the due amount is paid," he said.

Royal AM remain resolute

The club have reportedly been given until the end of June 21 to make payment, but aren't budging, 94.7 reported.

Speaking to Robert Marawa on #MSW, Royal AM’s legal representative, Leruma Thobejane insisted that the club were still waiting for FIFA to explain their decision.

"FIFA has not given motivation for their decision. Their conduct is prejudicial towards Royal AM. FIFA has received all our communications, so I’m not sure what else we need to do," he said.

He provided documents to state that they only received notification from FIFA on May 22 and replied on May 25, asking for motivation for FIFA's decision.

He reiterated that they had done nothing wrong and that the threat of the club being punished would not happen.

Royal AM in hot water

Royal AM have found themselves in hot water with football’s international governing body.

FIFA have clamped down on Shauwn Mkhize’s side, and the punishments could worsen in the coming days.

FIFA found Royal AM guilty of unfairly dismissing former attacker Samir Nurkovic and have fined the club as a result, Sports Brief reported.
