Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo are currently two of the biggest earners in football, thanks to their moves to the Saudi Pro League in 2023.

Ronaldo was the first to pave the way for the rest after signing for Al Nassr in December 2022, following the termination of his Manchester United contract.

Benzema would follow his former Real Madrid teammate to the Middle East this summer after he joined Al Ittihad on a three-year contract, ending his 14-year stay with Los Blancos.

According to 90MIN, Benzema's contract at Al Ittihad is worth just under £172 million per year, far exceeding his reported £14.5 million salary at Real Madrid.

Ronaldo, on the other hand, earns a whopping £177m a year with Al Nassr and is currently the highest-paid player in the Saudi Pro League.

Benzema to get new strike partner

Meanwhile, Tottenham star Son Heung-min could partner Karim Benzema at Al Ittihad next season as the Saudi Arabian club targets a new world-class striker, Tribal Football reports.

Al-Ittihad plans to make the South Korean join the long list of players from Europe’s top leagues to sign for a Saudi Pro League club and could offer Spurs £51 million for the forward.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Kante, Eduoard Mendy, and possibly Ruben Neves have all completed moves to the Saudi Pro League.

UEFA President sires strong warning

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Aleksander Ceferin, the President of UEFA, has taken steps to downplay concerns over the potential threat Saudi Arabia's spending power poses to the prominent European clubs.

The recent attention-grabbing transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo during the mid-season was just one among numerous high-profile moves to the Saudi Pro League.

Ronaldo's move to Al-Nassr will see his team face formidable competition in the upcoming season, with Karim Benzema also announcing his departure from Real Madrid to join Al-Ittihad.
