There’s always plenty of excitement to be found at the DStv eKasi Champ of Champions.

The annual tournament showcases the talents of eight of the best Kasi teams in the country, and this year is no different.

While the action on the dusty fields tends to grab attention, the commentators or spectators sometimes steal the show.

That was the case when Covid-19 took on Ramatlaohle FC. Trailing 2-1 with 90 minutes already elapsed, the pandemic team grabbed an extra time equaliser to tie the game.

The goal sparked not only celebrations among the players of Covid-19 but also among fans. One supporter ran onto the field till the halfway line before turning back and sprinting toward the corner flag.

He then spectacularly dived past the corner flag onto the grass. Even the commentators had a field day with his run, describing it as a 'Usain Bolt sprint'.

“Usain Bolt to the 40, to the 30, to the 10, to the five, Usain Bolt,” the commentator could be heard exclaiming as the fan ran towards the corner.

As noted by SuperSport, the tournament features five regional winners from the Gauteng area, plus three invitational champions from surrounding township areas.

The tournament will use a plate and cup format to determine the winners. The group winners and runners-up of the group stages will play for the main prize of R250 000.

The bottom two teams in both groups will play for R70 000 in the plate section.

Blackberry shows off kasi Flava

Those who watched the tournament at the venue and at home can claim to have finally seen it all on a football pitch, as Sports Brief previously reported.

Xolani 'Blackberry' Nkala displayed a unique form of 'kasi flava' for Mambas FC in the previous edition of the DStv Ekasi Champ of Champs hosted in Soweto.

Blackberry stopped after receiving the ball, lifted it to rest between his thighs, and started performing the 'Zekethe' dance to the pleasure of the spectators.
