English striker, Harry Kane is the most popular Premier League player, according to research based on Google search rankings in 2023.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker is one of the best stars in the English top flight, despite bearing the stigma of never having won a trophy in his career even as his club and country's all-time top scorer.
Sports Brief looks at the top 10 most searched Premier League stars, including Kane and golden boot winner, Erling Haaland, as researched by OLBG.
1. Harry Kane
The 29-year-old ended the season with 30 goals and missed out on the golden boot to Haaland, who scored 36. The news of his contract negotiation and transfer interest from top clubs possibly drove up searches on him. Kane was searched over 143,000 times monthly on Google and was the most-searched in London, Brighton, Portsmouth, and Southampton.
2. Erling Haaland
The Norwegian had a successful first season in English football, winning awards for club and league player of the year. He amassed over 138,000 monthly searches and had the highest searches in Manchester, Sheffield, Blackburn, and Blackpool.
3. Darwin Nunez
Liverpool’s £85 million striker is the third-most popular player. Though his first season was not all glitter and gold, after a move from Benfica, he recorded over 115,000 monthly searches and is the most searched in Wrexham, Lancaster, Bradford, and Belfast.
4. Jack Grealish
The party boy was the fourth on the list and received over 110,000 monthly searches. He topped searches in his hometown of Birmingham, plus Durham and Worcester. His reputation may have shot up after insisting his picture from Man City's treble celebration be 'hung' in the Louvre museum, as reported by Indy100.
5. Marcus Rashford
The Manchester United academy graduate and poster boy received over 87,000 searches monthly and was second-most searched in Manchester behind treble winner, Haaland.
