FootballHarry Kane Gives Custom Gifts to England Teammates After Becoming Three Lions Record Goalscorer
- Harry Kane is the all-time top scorer for both England and Tottenham Hotspur
- He surpassed Wayne Rooney for the Three Lions and Jimmy Greaves for Spurs
- Kane gave personalised gifts to his national teammates for their role in the feat
Harry Kane holds a rare feat of being a club and national team top scorer, after hitting both milestones for England and Tottenham Hotspur last season.
Kane surpassed club legend, Jimmy Greaves, to become the club’s all-time top scorer with his goal in the 1-0 victory over Premier League champions, Manchester City in February.
He achieved the feat for the Three Lions after opening the scoring from the penalty spot against Italy shortly before half-time, as Gareth Southgate’s men hung on for a 2-1 win.
According to Sporting News, despite being yet to win a trophy in his career, he is 48 goals away from surpassing Alan Shearer as the Premier League’s top scorer.
Kane’s gift to England teammates
The English national team are in post-season camping for their UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying games against Malta and North Macedonia.
Kane waited for the last contingents - the Man City treble winners - to arrive in camp before giving out a customised record to his teammates, each bearing their names and the list of countries he scored the goals against.
England are top of their group with six points, having won their first two games, including the revenge 2-1 victory over Italy who beat them in the Euro 2020 final at Wembley Stadium.
Southgate was under fire after the quarter-final elimination to France in Qatar but was given one more chance by the FA, who extended his contract until December 2024.
He will guide the team to Europe, hoping to surpass their last outing, as reported by the Guardian.
Man United's interest in Kane
Ancelotti tells Real Madrid bosses to sign Premier League star in transfer showdown talks
FootballSports Brief also analysed five strikers Man United can sign after ending their interest in Kane due to the perceived unwillingness of Tottenham to sell their captain.
The Red Devils had the 29-year-old as the ideal replacement number 9 but will now shift focus to other options, with Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund their new target.
