Real Madrid’s decision to sign Jude Bellingham has altered the list of the highest-paid players in La Liga after the England midfielder completed his switch from Borussia Dortmund.
The 19-year-old midfielder penned a six-year deal and will eventually cost Los Blancos a whopping £115 million with add-ons when the deal is finalised.
According to AS Soccer, Bellingham will earn around $21.7 million per season in Madrid, which drops to over $10.8 million after tax as he joins La Liga’s top earners.
The 19-year-old, alongside Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Vinicius Júnior, Thibaut Courtois, and David Alaba, lead Real Madrid’s highest earners following the departures of Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema this summer.
Bellingham will become the sixth English player to play for Real Madrid after the likes of Laurie Cunningham, Steve McManaman, Jonathan Woodgate, Michael Owen, and David Beckham, Sport Bible reports.
Barcelona and Real Madrid dominate
Barcelona and Real Madrid accounted for 23 of La Liga’s top 28 highest-paid players for the 2022/23 season, which is expected to continue for the forthcoming 2023/24 campaign.
Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong is the most expensive player in the league, commanding a $40 million yearly paycheck, way more than any other player in the Spanish topflight, Boardroom reports.
Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Vinicius Junior, and Robert Lewandowski are some of La Liga’s superstars who take home the biggest paychecks yearly.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Real Madrid's new signing, Jude Bellingham said he wanted to pay homage to club great, Zinedine Zidane by wearing his number five shirt.
The England international sealed his move to Madrid from Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday for 103 million euros ($112 million), plus up to 30 percent more in bonuses, on a six-year contract.
Bellingham spoke alongside Madrid president, Florentino Perez and explained why he was opting to wear the number five shirt.
