A section of Manchester United fans is convinced Arsenal are on course to give them a guard of honour following the release of the fixture list.

The Premier League announced the schedule for the 2023/24 campaign on Thursday, June 15, with all 20 participating teams discovering their fixtures for the season.

The Mirror reports that United will kick off their campaign with a home meeting with Wolves on August 14.

They will then embark on a trip to North London to face Tottenham Hotspur, before returning home against Nottingham Forest.

United fans excited about fixtures

Some United fans have since made a bold prediction on how they think the season could pan out.

It began with Twitter user @TheFergusonWay, who claimed that Arsenal are on course to give United a guard of honour next season.

Sportbible reports that the fan's claim was based on the fact that the Gunners will be travelling to Old Trafford on the penultimate weekend of the season.

The bold claim sparked reactions from fans, with some agreeing with the United diehard.

@colyske tweeted:

"December and April will be very crucial, otherwise the fixtures look relaxed."

@KessSaid admitted:

"Looks like it."

@nghonyama_ronny added:

"That will be sweet."

However, one objected, saying:

“There are more chances of it being us giving them a guard of honour.”

The Red Devils have not tasted Premier League glory for almost a decade, winning their last under Sir Alex Ferguson during the 2012/13 season.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have also not lifted the coveted crown for years, tasting their last domestic glory back in 2004.

2023/2024: Big 6 fixtures

Sports Brief has also reported that the build-up to the 2023/24 Premier League season has officially begun as the fixtures were released. There will be no shortage of drama when the season starts on August 11.

The first big fixture will be held at Stamford Bridge on the season's opening day. The first London derby will take place between Arsenal and Tottenham at the Emirates in September.
