  • Ansu Fati has been backed to win the prestigious Ballon d'Or
  • Despite enduring setbacks due to injuries, Jorge Mendes firmly believes that Fati possesses the untapped potential to conquer the world
  • He is rumoured to be on the wishlist of several top European clubs

Jorge Mendes, the renowned super-agent, exudes confidence in Ansu Fati's commitment to Barcelona while confidently asserting the youngster's future prospects of winning the Ballon d'Or.

Fati, who was hailed as the next prodigious talent from Barcelona's esteemed La Masia academy, even inherited the prestigious No.10 shirt at the club following Lionel Messi's departure in 2021.

However, persistent injuries and a dip in form have hindered his rapid ascent to stardom. In the previous season, the 20-year-old made 51 appearances, contributing 10 goals and four assists, according to Transfermarkt.

Reports have surfaced, as per Express, suggesting that Arsenal have been presented with the opportunity to sign Ansu Fati from Barcelona this summer, with manager Mikel Arteta purportedly an ardent admirer of the young Spaniard.

Nevertheless, Mendes, who represents Fati, emphatically asserts that his client has no intentions of leaving Barcelona, aiming to dispel the swirling rumours.

“Ansu wants to stay. He has scored three goals in his last games," he told Jijantes, as quoted by Sportskeeda.

He continued to describe Ansu as "one of the promising" footballers of his generation and has tipped him to win the coveted Ballon d'Or prize in the coming years.

"He is one of the best young players in the world. One day he will win the Ballon d'Or.”

Updated Ballon d'Or ranking

Lionel Messi is set to battle it out with Erling Haaland for the 2023 edition of the Ballon d'Or award. Messi's World Cup win with Argentina last year gave him the lead over other possible competitors.

There is, therefore, no denying that the World Cup and the Champions League will play a crucial role in determining who will win the most lucrative individual award in football - the Ballon d'Or.

While Messi is understood to be in pole position to win his eighth gong, the Man City striker has closed the gap on the serial winner in recent months.
