Al Ahly's first-choice goalkeeper, Mohamed El Shenawy produced an incredible moment after the Egyptian giants reclaimed the CAF Champions League title from Wydad Casablanca.
El Shenawy returned to the posts after missing the first leg of the final, with Al Ahly earning a 1-1 draw to win the competition for the eleventh time.
In the absence of their captain and second-choice goalkeeper, Ali Lofty, Mostafa Shobier kept the posts in the first leg as the Red Devils won 2-1.
Despite appearing in the final, the third-choice goalkeeper was ineligible to receive a medal after making just a single appearance in the competition.
In an incredible show of sportsmanship, El Shenawy - who has won the competition three times - spotted Shobier and placed his medal around his neck, per a video circulating on social media.
Mohamed Abdelmonem's 78th minute strike cancelled out Yahia Attiyat Allah's first-half goal for Wydad, as Al Ahly emerged champions on 3-2 aggregate, as reported by newsday.com.
The Egyptian club will represent Africa in the 2023 Club World Cup.
