FootballParis Saint-Germain Eye Crystal Palace Star As Potential Replacement for Messi
- Wilfred Zaha is attracted to the idea of playing Champions League football for the first time
- PSG are in search of a forward to fill the void left behind by Lionel Messi
- The French club recently completed the signing of Marco Asensio
Paris Saint-Germain have sounded out Wilfried Zaha’s representatives over a potential move to sign the Crystal Palace winger on a free transfer this summer.
The 30-year-old is out of contract on June 30 and is taking time to decide his future.
Zaha has a £200,000-a-week offer to stay at Palace and has also been offered a £45million deal over three years to link up with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, according to AS.
Atletico Madrid are also interested in Zaha, who remains reluctant to give up on his dream of playing in the Champions League.
PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos has identified Zaha as a target, as the French giants to help rebuild after Lionel Messi left for Inter Miami. They also like his Palace team-mate Michael Olise.
Zaha has not wanted to rush a decision over his future, and the opportunity to play in the Champions League for PSG or Atletico will be attractive to him.
Palace are desperate for Zaha to sign a new contract and he could still stay at Selhurst Park.
But Palace are having to wait over their talisman's decision, who has scored 90 goals in 458 appearances for his boyhood club.
Marco Asensio to join PSG
According to reports from The Athletic, Marco Asensio has already agreed to a long-term contract with PSG that is worth €10 million (£8.5m/$11m) per year.
The Spain international has not yet signed the deal but will complete the formalities after the season ends.
Transfers: Exploring Marco Asensio's potential summer destinations
FootballThe winger decided in May that he would reject Madrid's offer to extend his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, having been in negotiations since December. He will leave after eight years with the club. He initially joined from Mallorca in 2015 before being loaned to Espanyol shortly afterwards.
PSG dealt another transfer blow
Sports Brief reported earlier that Paris Saint-Germain’s plans ahead of the new season have been dealt another blow after Zinédine Zidane turned down their approach to replace Christophe Galtier at the Parc des Princes.
Whilst Galtier’s departure hasn’t yet been officially confirmed by PSG, it has been widely reported that the former OGC Nice manager, who only arrived at the club in the summer, has already been informed by Sporting Advisor Luís Campos that he is no longer Les Parisiens’ manager.
