  • PSG are on the look for a new manager
  • The French Champions reportedly parted ways with Manager Christophe Galtier
  • Zinedine Zidane is high up the French club's new manager shortlist

Paris Saint-Germain’s plans ahead of the new season have been dealt another blow after Zinédine Zidane turned down their approach to replace Christophe Galtier at the Parc des Princes.

Whilst Galtier’s departure hasn’t yet been officially confirmed by PSG, it has been widely reported that the former OGC Nice manager, who only arrived at the club in the summer, has already been informed by Sporting Advisor Luís Campos that he is no longer Les Parisiens’ manager.

As revealed by Le Parisien, Zidane was PSG’s first choice in May, just as he was last year before Galtier’s arrival.

Get French Football News also reported at the time that PSG were not getting positive responses from Zidane, despite making a proposal that would put him in the top three highest-paid coaches in football currently.

Le Parisien now reports that Zidane was approached by PSG in recent weeks, but has rejected their advances.

Since Zidane’s rejection, the club have made approaches for alternative targets, including Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique and Xabi Alonso.

Al Nassr to reunite Zidane, Ronaldo

The Saudi Pro League side is now reportedly looking to lure another Real Madrid legend to the kingdom.

The former Real Madrid manager has allegedly been offered upwards of €50 million per season to manage the Riyadh-based club, Portuguese sports journalist Pedro Almeida claimed.

So far there has been no comment from Al-Nassr or Zidane about the claims.

Luring Zidane to Riyadh, widely considered to be one of the best managers in the game, would be a major coup for Saudi football, particularly after it failed to attract the kingdom's tourism ambassador Lionel Messi to Riyadh-based Al-Hilal this week.

Saudi Arabia has looked to expand its brand name in the world of sports, in particular football, with a takeover of Premier League side Newcastle United and the signing of stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

Zidane on Messi, Ronaldo debate

Earlier Sports Brief Zidane’s opinion on the lingering GOAT debate.

The former French international was previously asked to pick between Messi and Ronaldo, and he explained why he thought the Portuguese star was better than the Argentinian.

"Cristiano is the best. Messi is his rival and it's the rivalry everyone wants to see. But Ronaldo is phenomenal. There are no words to describe him.
He is much better than me, even though I had a great career. He's the greatest of all time," he said at the time.
