FootballLionel Messi Wages Compared to Cristiano Ronaldo After Inter Miami Move
- Lionel Messi will pocket a fortune after signing for Inter Miami
- The Argentine will reportedly be on a £43m salary at Inter Miami
- His salary will still be massively dwarfed by Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr package
Lionel Messi will receive a substantial sum of money for his new endeavour in the United States of America, but not quite as much as his longtime foe Cristiano Ronaldo.
Messi stunned the football world by announcing his impending move to Major League Soccer to join David Beckham's Inter Miami after a return to Barcelona collapsed.
The 35-year-old winner will depart Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires at the end of June.
According to The Sun, Messi reportedly received an offer of around £300 million per year to relocate to Saudi Arabia following the announcement of his PSG exit.
However, the seven-time Ballon d'Or didn't want to play in the Saudi Pro League with former Real Madrid rivals Karim Benzema and Ronaldo.
Argentina's World Cup-winning captain will continue to receive a massive wage in the United States despite declining the potential billions on offer in the Middle East.
Messi's salary at Inter Miami
The Sun reports that Messi's deal with the MLS team will increase over the course of his two and a half years to a whopping $150 million (£119.34 million).
That equates to around £918k-a-week - and, incredibly, £90.70 a minute.
The reports further state that Adidas has proposed a profit-sharing arrangement in which Messi will share in any rise in revenue due to his participation in the Major League Soccer.
Ronaldo's salary at Al-Nassr
Meanwhile, Ronaldo signed a £173 million per year contract with Al-Nassr in January.
The entire contract, which is thought to span seven years, will see the Portugal icon serve as an ambassador when he puts up his boots.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner may earn up to £1.2 Billion during the course of the contract, or £5.50 every second.
