Brazil Legend Names ‘Perfect’ Premier League Club for Neymar
- Neymar has been advised to leave PSG for Manchester United this summer
- PSG splashed a world record fee of €222 million to acquire the service of Neymar from Barcelona in 2017
- The 31-year-old has reportedly fallen out of favour at Parc des Princes and is angling towards a summer move
Brazil football icon Rivaldo has urged Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar to consider joining Manchester United.
Neymar has been linked with a potential move to the Premier League this summer, with Brazilian compatriot and United midfielder Casemiro acting as a 'pseudo' middle man.
The Brazilian superstar has endured a difficult past few months after enjoying a brilliant start to the soon-to-end 2022-23 season. He hasn't played since the end of February after suffering an ankle injury which has hampered his campaign.
Despite PSG's readiness to let go of the most expensive footballer on the planet, a myriad of clubs in England's top flight, including Manchester United, have reportedly expressed interest in securing the services of the 31-year-old.
Weighing in on the reports, Rivaldo, who helped Brazil win their fifth World Cup trophy in 2022, believes it will be an 'excellent step' in Neymar’s career to join the Red Devils from PSG.
“I am in favour of Neymar transferring to Manchester United,” Rivaldo wrote in his Betfair column as quoted by Daily Post.
“In recent days, there has been talk that he might sign for the Premier League giants at the end of the season and, unlike when he left Barcelona for PSG, this time, I am in favour of this move.
He added: “In 2017, I didn’t think it was beneficial for him to leave for France, although I understood his reasons. But now I am convinced that playing in the Premier League with Manchester United would be an excellent step in his career.”
