Barcelona boss makes another bold statement about Lionel Messi
FootballBarcelona Might Just Consider Neymar Following Disappointment Over Messi’s Decision
- Barcelona have missed out on signing Lionel Messi this summer
- The club are looking to strengthen their attack line ahead of the new season
- Barcelona might have a chance to bring back Neymar to the Camp Nou
Paris Saint-Germain star, Neymar, would be delighted to go back to FC Barcelona after they lost the race to sign former player Lionel Messi.
Amid interest in the Argentine from the Catalans, other European clubs, and Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, Messi has revealed he will join Inter Miami.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Messi explained that the transfer is not yet 100% done and there are still some things "missing", but he should have everything wrapped up to officially sign for the MLS club when his Paris Saint-Germain contract expires on June 30.
Also at the Parc des Princes, world record signing Neymar, whom the Qatari giants bought for €222 million ($237.5 million) when activating his Barca release clause in 2017 could be sold this summer.
Sport reports that the Brazilian "would be willing to make an effort to return" to the club he joined in 2013 from boyhood club Santos.
Current Barca coach Xavi Hernandez knows Neymar well from his playing days and sealed the club's last treble alongside him in 2015 before heading to Qatar in semi-retirement.
His La Liga-winning squad are in dire need of a defensive midfielder, but also a natural goalscorer and a wide man, which is where Neymar could come in.
Neymar’s transfer cost
While Messi was going to arrive free of charge had Barcelona pulled off the coup, PSG won't let Neymar go for nothing and Barca might just have to consider the Brazilian's high wages.
This all but rules out a second stint at Camp Nou for the 31-year-old, and cash-strapped Barcelona. Even if they had the money, they would probably rather go for someone like the multifunctional Manchester City and Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva who could be on the market in the coming weeks.

FootballAs with Messi, Barcelona fans will likely never see Neymar don their colours again in a professional capacity and shall only be left to think about what could have been.
Neymar’s Heartfelt Message to Messi
Sports Brief earlier reported Neymar penned a heartfelt message to former teammate Lionel Messi.
The forward took to Instagram to pen his emotion. He wrote:
"Brother... it didn't turn out as we thought but we tried everything. It was a pleasure to share 2 more years with you. Good luck in your new stage and be happy. I love you #leomessi"
Neymar and Messi along with Luis Suarez, forged one of the deadliest attacking partnerships in history with Barcelona when the trio guided the Spanish to numerous titles, including a treble in 2015.
