  • Fernando Morientes has urged the Real Madrid board to go all out for Harry Kane
  • There remain question marks about Karim Benzema's long-term future with Real Madrid
  • Kane will become a free agent in 2024 when his contract with Tottenham expires

Real Madrid should go all out and sign England and Tottenham Hotspur captain Harry Kane.

That’s according to Los Blancos legend Madridista Fernando Morientes, who believes the Englishman is a more direct replacement for Karim Benzema.

With the 14-time European champions allowing Benzema to join Al Ittihad, there is a spot on the middle side of attack for a clinical forward.

And, according to Morientes, 29-year-old Kane does fit that mould, adding that he likes the Three Lions skipper.

“I like Harry Kane, a lot of people are betting on him, he’d be a good player to take the nine spot [at Real Madrid] for instant performance,” Morientes said via Football Espana.
“I don’t think about the economic aspect, the club will think about the economic side.”

As reported by Managing Madrid, Kane has established himself as one of the best forwards in Europe at the moment.

He scored 32 goals and provided five assists in 49 appearances for Tottenham during the 2022/23 season.

The forward has transformed himself from Millwall loanee to England captain in the space of ten years.

Madrid confident of Kane’s signing

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are confident in signing Harry Kane for as little as £68million, with the Englishman’s contract with Tottenham set to expire in 2024, Football London reports.

Tottenham owner Daniel Levy has made no secret of his desire to keep the England captain in North London but is open to letting Kane leave for the right price this summer.

Kane has remained coy on his future, refusing to be drawn on speculation which connects him with a summer move to the 14-time Champions League winners.

Ancelotti wants Kane at Madrid

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has pleaded with the club's executives to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham in the summer.

Kane has one year left on his contract with Spurs, and a bidding war for his services in the upcoming transfer window appears to be imminent.

Los Blancos are one of the teams keeping an eye on the star striker after Ancelotti expressed an interest during heated discussions with the club's management.
