Legendary Cameroonian footballer, Samuel Eto'o has paid a glowing tribute to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who announced his retirement at the end of the season.

In an emotional farewell at the San Siro before the match between AC Milan and Hellas Verona, the 41-year-old broke down in tears as he said his final goodbyes to the game.

Eto'o and Ibrahimovic spent years playing against each other, with the Cameroonian part of a deal that saw the Swede move to Barcelona in 2009.

In a post on social media, Eto'o celebrated Ibrahimovic as he wished him the best in his retirement.

"What a player. What a career," wrote Eto'o on Twitter.

Ibrahimovic enjoyed a stellar career, playing for some of the best clubs in Europe's top five leagues, including Manchester United and Barcelona.

"There are too many emotions for me right now. Forza Milan and goodbye," an emotional Ibrahimovic said, as quoted by BBC.
"The first time I came here you gave me happiness, the second time you gave me love.
"You welcomed me with open arms, you made me feel at home, I will be a Milanista for the rest of my life."

Ibrahimovic scored 511 goals, winning 34 trophies, including fourteen league titles.

Eto'o meets Ibrahimovic

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Inter Milan legend, Samuel Eto'o was given a warm welcome at the San Siro following his return to Italy, where he made history with the Nerazurris.

The Cameroon Football Federation president was in Milan for the UEFA Champions League semi-final clash between his former club and eternal rivals AC Milan.

Early first-half goals from Eden Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan ensured the blue side of Milan headed into the second leg with the advantage.

Eto'o shows Vini Jr. support

Former Cameroon and Barcelona striker, Samuel Eto'o has urged Brazilian winger, Vinicius Jr. to stand up for his rights after he suffered racist abuse from fans in La Liga.

The Real Madrid winger was abused by fans of Valencia during Los Blancos' defeat at the Estadio Mestalla a fortnight ago.

In an attempt to react to the chants from the fans, Vinicius Jr. ended up getting sent off as Real Madrid finished the game with ten men.
