Karim Benzema ended his La Liga career in style after netting a goal in his final game for Real Madrid, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, June 4th.
The Frenchman announced on Sunday that he would be leaving Los Blancos after 14 successful years at the club, following his arrival from Olympique Lyon in 2009.
According to Talk Sport, Benzema has now surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo as the player with the most goals scored against one opposition in La Liga after netting a penalty on Sunday.
The goal against Athletic Bilbao was his 18th against the La Liga side, surpassing Ronaldo’s tally against the same opposition, which was set when the Portugal forward was still a Real Madrid player.
Benzema will see his contract with Real Madrid expire at the end of Jun,e and he is widely expected to join Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia, with an offer from Al-Ittihad waiting.

The La Liga club has confirmed that Benzema will leave Real Madrid as a free agent in the off-season after 14 trophy-laden years.
Ancelotti said that Benzema told Real Madrid about his decision to leave the club on Sunday morning, which was very unexpected.
