Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof was a victim of fans' aggression during Saturday’s FA Cup game between rivals United and City.

The sky blue side of Manchester prevailed over the red side with a 2-1 scoreline to end the Red Devils hopes of a second trophy in Erik Ten Hag’s first season, having won the Carabao Cup.

City captain Ilkay Gundogan scored twice - volleys from outside the box on either foot. The first to open the scoring in the first half and the second to put the team back in the lead.

United captain Bruno Fernandes pulled one back from the penalty spot, sending Stefan Ortega the wrong way after Jack Grealish was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box.

Lindelof hit by an object

Victor Lindelof was hit by an object that appears to be a lighter from the Manchester City fans during United’s goal celebration in front of the City crowd.

According to a video shared on Twitter by @TheFergusonWay, the Swede was picked out among his teammates and the object hit straight below his left eye, he bent down immediately but it was nothing serious and he continued the game.

He was substituted in the 83rd minute of the game and replaced by academy graduate Scott McTominay, in what appears to be a tactical substitution more than a precaution or injury.

According to talkSPORT, he hinted at a summer exit despite his contract expiring in 2024 because he had fallen in the pecking order behind Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.

Gundogan makes FA Cup history

Sports Brief reported that Ilkay Gundogan made FA Cup final history with his opening goal against Manchester United which was clocked at 13 seconds - the fastest ever in the competition’s final.

Stefan Ortega launched the ball forward from kickoff, and Kevin De Bruyne headed it into the path of Gundogan who hit a first-time volley which had David De Gea rooted to the spot.
