Karim Benzema’s 14-year reign as a Real Madrid player is set to come to an end this summer, after the French forward informed the club of his intention to leave.
The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner has enjoyed a successful spell with Los Blancos, winning multiple trophies since joining the Spanish giants from French club Olympique Lyon in 2009.
According to Goal, Benzema has told Real Madrid’s hierarchy that he wants to accept a mega contract offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad.
The Frenchman has been offered a two-year contract that will see him earn €400 million with the Saudi Pro League club if he decides to join them this summer.
Benzema, who has also been offered a paid ambassadorial role in Saudi Arabia's bid to host the 2030 World Cup, has notified Madrid that he will not commit to a new contract after his current one expires at the end of the season.
Kane to replace Benzema?
Meanwhile, Real Madrid will make a move for Tottenham striker, Harry Kane should Benzema decide to leave the Spanish giants this summer, Caught Offside reports.
Kane appears willing to finally leave the North London club this summer after another failed season. Manchester United and Real Madrid have been sounded as possible destinations for the England forward.
Tottenham could earn in the region of £100m from Kane’s sale now, rather than allowing the forward to leave for free when his contract expires next season.
