FootballRoma’s Europa League Loss Amusingly Blamed on Kardashian Curse
- Sevilla proved why they are Europa League giants with a 4-1 shootout victory over Roma
- It was the Spanish club’s record-extending seventh Europa League title
- The loss was Jose Mourinho’s first in a European final, having won the previous five
AS Roma’s loss to Sevilla in the UEFA Europa League final at the Puskas Arena in Budapest last night has been blamed on a funny 'curse' in football.
Sevilla came into the tie with a perfect record in Europa League finals, having won their previous six. At the same time, Jose Mourinho also had a perfect record in European finals.
The Spanish team won the day, and the Portuguese manager had his streak ended in what would have been his second consecutive European final win with Roma in two years.
Poor officiating and Paulo Dybala’s inability to complete the full match due to fitness problems could be seen as factors that affected the Italian club- but there might also be something else.
Kardashian curse strikes Roma
According to BR Football, photos of Kim Kardashian sporting Roma’s 1997/98 jersey made rounds on the internet in January. It has now amusingly been linked to the Giallorossi’s loss last night.
According to Pink Villa, the 'Kardashian curse' is a theory that anyone who dates a member of the Kardashian or Jenner family will suffer terrible luck if the relationship ends.
Marca traced the curse to football, and it appears to have some truth to it. Kim Kardashian attended Arsenal’s Europa League game against Sporting Lisbon, and the Gunners lost, despite being heavily favoured.
Three days later, she was in Paris to attend Paris Saint-Germain’s home game against Rennes. The eventual French champions lost 2-0.
She video-chatted Bukayo Saka after her appearance at the game, and many fans believed it was why Arsenal bottled the Premier League title to Manchester City, despite an eight-point advantage.
