- Kenya will take on Senegal in a do-or-die affair in their last Group C clash

- Harambee Stars could, however, still qualify if they lose to the Lions of Teranga

- They currently sit third in Group C with three points

The 32nd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations is the biggest yet as up to 24 teams are participating in the competition in Egypt.

Two rounds of group fixtures are already done and dusted, and now it is crunch time.

The tournament’s expansion to 24 teams from the previous 16 implies that every group match, point and goal matters.

The format of the competition also means two wins from the first two games is enough to secure qualification for the last 16 for any team.

Whereas topping the group would have still be the ultimate goal for all participating nations, calculations look set to get enormously complicated considering the four best third-placed teams will seal a place in the next round.

That means, Kenya, who are fourth in the best third-placed team are in the frame to progress to the last 16 even if they lose their last group crunch clash against Senegal.

But then, in that scenario, they will be hoping Benin suffer defeat to Cameroon in their last Group F match scheduled for Tuesday, July 2.

The side will also hope Angola lose their last round of Group E fixture against Mali who are topping the group with four points.

Benin and Angola are the fifth and sixth best third-placed teams in the permutations respectively with two points each.

Meanwhile, Guinea, DR Congo and South Africa top list of the best third-placed teams.
