Brentford striker, Ivan Toney, has issued a defiant message on social media once again, days after getting slapped with an 8-month ban.

The striker pleaded guilty to 232 of the 262 charges that were brought against him by the Football Association in 2022.

Toney’s ban has come with some damaging implications as the player is ineligible for selection in popular video game FIFA 23.

His chances of securing a big-money move have also been hampered, but Brentford are willing to stick with their man and according to The Sun, he will be handed a new contract.

After an open show of support from his manager Thomas Frank on the final day of the Premier League campaign, Toney appears unfazed by the troubles facing him as he took to social media to issue a 7-word message to fans.

“Cream always rises, remember that. Back soon.” He posted.

His short statement came just hours after he spoke on his ban for the first time, vowing to speak “soon with no filters”.

For Brentford, Toney has been a gem over the last three years, scoring 68 goals in 123 matches, according to Transfermkt.

His goals were crucial for Brentford in the Championship as they secured promotion to the English top flight two years ago.

This season, he has bagged 20 goals as his side pushed and managed to achieve a top half finish ahead of London rivals Fulham and Chelsea.

Frank’s take on Toney's situation

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has been quite vocal on the sanctions imposed on Toney.

Toney, who was also fined £50,000, will also not be able to train with his team for four months.

“Yes, Ivan did something wrong and got punished for it. What I don’t get at all, is how can you not let him be involved in football for the first four months?” Frank said as quoted on TalkSport.

Toney bet on Brentford to lose

Sports Brief also reported on some of the alleged betting offences commited by Toney which led to his ban.

The FA's document shows that the England international admitted to his charges. Had he not admitted, he would have been handed a 15-month ban to show the 'seriousness of the case'.

The document further shows that Toney bet on his team to lose 13 times between August 22, 2017, and March 3, 2018, but he did not play in any of the matches.
