  • Senegalese star Sadio Mane is contracted to Bayern Munich until 2025
  • The Bavarians star has struggled to find peak form since his knee injury
  • Mane has only scored 12 goals and made six assists in all competitions

Bayern Munich attacker, Sadio Mané has struggled to find peak form since the knee injury he picked up just before the winter break ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

He missed out on joining the tournament with Senegal and hasn’t quite hit his stride since.

Struggling to regain full fitness and faced with a sudden managerial change towards the end of February, it’s been a topsy-turvy first season for the Senegalese star.

Prior to the World Cup break, Mané had a total of 11 goals and four assists across all competitions, but since he’s returned from his knee injury, he’s only scored once and has provided two further assists.

The Senegalese fell out of favour with Julian Nagelsmann and hasn’t really ever been in favour under Thomas Tuchel either.

With his dip in form, there’s been increased speculation that Bayern would attempt to cut their losses with the former Liverpool player and try to offload him during the summer transfer window.

However, that may not be the case.

According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Mané and the agency that represents him have no plans for a summer departure from Bayern. He is said to have a good relationship with Tuchel and sees the big picture regarding his position at the club.

The former Chelsea manager is already familiar with the Senegalese winger, given their time in the Premier League.

France-based journalist, Papa Mahmoud Gueye also stated the feeling is mutual between both Mané and Bayern.

A lot of conflicting reports had come out suggesting the ex-Liverpool man was top of the list of players set to leave the club this summer, but if Gueye's report is accurate, perhaps Bayern will keep him around after all.

Tuchel to force Mane out?

Reports had earlier emerged from Sky Sports Deutschland on Wednesday that Bayern head coach, Tuchel did not see a future for the player at the club.

Mane was given just six minutes off the bench against Schalke last weekend - his least amount of action since returning to action after being suspended by the club for a clash with teammate, Leroy Sane.

This incident sums up a frustrating campaign for the Senegalese, who has been struggling with form and fitness, falling down the order behind the likes of Sane, Serge Gnabry, and Thomas Muller since.

Premier League return for Mane?

Earlier Sports Brief reported that a few EPL clubs are interested in Mane and want to bring him back to England in the summer.

According to reports, Manchester United and Newcastle United are both keen to lure the Senegalese star away from the Bundesliga.

A return to Liverpool looks unlikely for Mane given the Reds' high-profile signings of both Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo recently.
