FootballBorussia Dortmund’s Bellingham Crowned Bundesliga Player of the Season
- Jude Bellingham has been voted the Bundesliga Player of the Season
- The 19-year-old midfielder added yet another award to his accolades
- The Borussia Dortmund star has been linked with La Liga and Real Madrid
After an exceptional campaign, Borussia Dortmund’s influential midfielder, Jude Bellingham has been voted as the 2022/23 Bundesliga Player of the Season.
The 19-year-old has blown the German league away this year, proving himself to be one of the most complete footballers in the world.
His talents have been on display since he signed for Die Schwarzgelben back in 2020, but his development from season to season has seen him become a pivotal member of his side.
The English international has improved his own performances and as such, helped guide Borussia Dortmund to a place where they can challenge Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title.
The Black and Yellows have also improved their points tally in each season Bellingham has been at the club, which has seen them narrowly miss out on the top flight crown this campaign.
This season unfortunately ended in heartbreak for Dortmund and their star midfielder, Bellingham, with BVB failing to capitalise on the phenomenal opportunity they had in hand. A draw to Mainz on the final day allowed Bayern to swoop in and clinch an eleventh-straight Bundesliga crown.
However, this should not overshadow what has been a remarkable season for Jude Bellingham.
Bellingham's Bundesliga stats with Dortmund
Bellingham has finished as Dortmund’s top goal-scorer in all competitions with 14 goals, providing six assists in the process. In the 2021/22 campaign, he only mustered six goals.
Despite this, what can be considered a far more reflective accolade for the young star is that he has been able to captain the German giants in the absence of Marco Reus.

FootballBellingham has shown the maturity of a seasoned veteran throughout the course of the season, even while enforcing his side from the touchline against Mainz.
It is a trait he has recognised within himself:
“Every year or half-year that I’ve played at the club, my responsibility in the team has increased. I have to continue to be everywhere on the pitch and try my best to contribute going forwards and backwards and try and control games, try to dominate the midfield,” he explained.
Bellingham's combination of ability and mental fortitude has not gone unnoticed on the world stage, with constant reports from Marca linking him to Europe's finest.
A possible move to Real Madrid would be a testament to the success of the Bundesliga Player of the Season.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Bellingham will withdraw from England's national squad ahead of the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia, due to potential knee surgery.
