- The 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder picked up a knee injury that might require surgery
- England are set to kickstart their Euro 2024 qualifiers in mid-June against Malta and North Macedonia
Jude Bellingham will be on the sidelines as the Borussia Dortmund midfielder will undergo surgery to treat a knee injury he suffered during the season.
The 19-year-old missed Dortmund’s final game of the season due to the injury as he watched from the bench as the Black and Yellow fumbled their chance to win their first Bundesliga title in ten years against Mainz last weekend.
According to Goal, Bellingham is now set to withdraw from England’s upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia in June after undergoing surgery.
The Borussia Dortmund star has started the last 10 matches for the Three Lions and will be a massive loss for Gareth Southgate, who has made him a key member of his England squad recently.
Bellingham’s knee injury however will not disrupt the midfielder’s proposed move to Real Madrid this summer after both Borussia Dortmund and the La Liga giant have agreed on a deal worth £108 million.
Bellingham voted Bundesliga POTS
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund and England midfielder Jude Bellingham have been voted as the Bundesliga player of the season, BBC reports.
The 19-year-old midfielder scored eight goals and provided five assists in 31 league appearances this season for Dortmund as they finished runners-up behind Bayern Munich this season.
Bellingham joined Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham City in 2020 for £25m and the England midfielder who could join Real Madrid this summer, has made over 130 appearances for the Bundesliga club.
