According to Metro UK, the England international has rejected Chelsea's last two offers of an extension, plunging his future with the Blues into doubt.

The publication adds that Mount's decision to turn down the offers has made Chelsea unwilling to table any improved offers.

Mount's contract situation has sparked interest from a number of Premier League clubs, who are said to be keeping close tabs on the midfielder.

United plot bid for Mount

While Arsenal, Man City, Newcastle, and Liverpool are all reportedly interested in Mount, it is Man United who have taken a significant step towards securing his services.

The Sun reports that the Red Devils are already preparing to launch a £55million bid for the Chelsea contract rebel.

Erik ten Hag is understood to be keen to strengthen his team ahead of next season and has prioritised the signing of an attacking midfielder.

It is believed that Mount is top on his transfer wishlist ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Lukaku aims dig at Chelsea

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Romelu Lukaku has taken a swipe at Chelsea by appearing to claim that a part of him knew it might never work out at the London club.

Lukaku rejoined Chelsea in 2021 after a big-money move from Inter Milan, in a deal that ended up backfiring badly for both parties.

Having won the Scudetto in Italy, Lukaku arrived with a lot of promise, looking to steer Chelsea to the next level.

The Belgian has now expressed interest in staying with the Nerrazurri beyond this season.
