  • Mauricio Pochettino is in line to take charge at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season
  • Chelsea stars are said to have welcomed the appointment and contend Poch is the right man for the job
  • The 51-year-old Argentine tactician will become Chelsea's sixth manager in just five years

The Chelsea squad has reportedly reacted positively to Mauricio Pochettino's imminent arrival.

Pochettino is understood to have agreed to become the Blues' next boss to succeed Graham Potter, who was sacked in February.

The West London club have been without a substantive manager since Potter's axing, with Frank Lampard currently in charge on an interim basis until the end of the season.

Chelsea chiefs have been shopping for an experienced manager for weeks now, with Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann initially linked.

However, it is Pochettino who has won the race to become the next Chelsea boss, with Metro UK reporting the Argentine tactician will become the club's sixth manager in five years.

Chelsea stars react to Poch news

Reports claim that the Chelsea squad is positive ahead of Pochettino's imminent arrival, and the players contend the club have made the right move.

According to CBS Sports, a number of Chelsea stars believe that the 51-year-old was the right man for the job and have backed him to take the club forward.

Pochettino has been out of work for close to a year now, having been sacked at Paris Saint-Germain back in July 2022.

The tactician has significant Premier League experience, having previously managed Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton.

Pochettino’s biggest Chelsea challenge

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that despite taking over at a massive club, there are a number of things the highly-rated Argentine will need to iron out at Chelsea.

The club spent heavily in both transfer windows of the 2022/23 campaign, but there has been no success on the pitch.

With only three games of the season to go, Chelsea will certainly finish outside European places, meaning it may be hard to retain some of the club’s stars.
