- Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi has sacked another coach despite his side not being relegated this season
- Lehlohonolo Seema was the fifth coach sacked by Chippa United after just four games in charge of the team
- Daine Klate, Morgan Mammila, Kurt Lentjies, and Siyabulela Gwambi were all relieved of their duties this season
Chippa United owner Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi has sacked another coach.
Mpengesi has earned a reputation for firing numerous coaches and has sacked Lehlohonolo Seema.
Seema was brought in to help the club avoid relegation during the season, and despite ensuring that they survived the drop, he was still axed by the owner.
As noted by Far Post, Seema has now spoken out about his exit and insists that Mpengesi will regret his decisions.
“It’s very true that I’m no longer with Chippa United, and you know how the chairman works,” Seema said.
“Very disappointed. But God will open another opportunity for me. One day the chairman will regret the way he’s treating people,” he added.
Chippa’s reputation for firing coaches
Seema is the fifth coach to be relieved of his duties during the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season. As noted by Sowetan LIVE, Daine Klate, Morgan Mammila, Kurt Lentjies, and Siyabulela Gwambi were all shown the door during the season before Seema was brought in for his second stint at the club.
Seema has promised that the second time will be his last.
“So I was told that the club has other plans. I hear the rumours saying that Morgan Mammila is coming back to the club. But it’s not a problem; I’m fine, and I will never go back. I helped where I can,” an upset Seema said.
Chippa’s shocking ten-year stat
While five coaches being fired in a season may seem rough, it’s unsurprising.

AthleticsThe South African reported last year that Mpengesi has fired 28 coaches in the past 10 years. With the five fired already this season, the tally is now at 33.
Some coaches like Seema, Lentjies and Dan Malesela have been removed from the post, rehired later down the line and then removed again.
