Former Wolfsburg director Jorg Schmadtke has stated emphatically that he made a big mistake selling Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen who has now grown up to be one of the best strikers in the world.
It was in 2018 that Schmadtke made the decision to sell Osimhen to the Belgian club, Sporting Charleroi after featuring in 14 goals and failing to score any goal.
The Super Eagles star did not have good games at Wolfsburg which forced the club to offload him.
And at Sporting Charleroi, Osimhen scored 12 goals before moving to Lille in 2019.
It was in the French Ligue 1 that the Nigerian striker found his rhythm scoring 13 goals in 27 games which caught the attention of those in charge at Napoli.
According to the reports on Complete Sports and Mirror, Jorg Schmadtke explained that he should have given Osimhen some time.

“It wasn’t a good move, in hindsight. When I came, Osimhen was limping and running in circles.
“I was told that the strikers we had weren’t good enough. The most important lesson is that you have to be patient with some transfers.”
Meanwhile, Jorg Schmadtke is expected to be appointed as Liverpool's new sporting director.
