Valencia are feeling the repercussions of the actions of their fans who racially abused Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior during their La Liga clash on Sunday, May 21.
The Spanish Football Federation has clamped down on Valencia following the sad incident and has hit the La Liga club with a partial stadium closure for five games.
According to Talk Sport, Valencia was also fined €45,000 by RFEF alongside closing the Mario Kempes stand at the Mestalla Stadium as the body steps up to curb racism in La Liga.
Fans racially abused Vinicius Junior during Real Madrid’s loss to Valencia on Sunday as the referee temporarily stopped the game due to the incident.
Valencia who has identified three persons guilty of perpetrating the act against Vinicius Junior has up to ten working days to appeal the RFEF sanctions.
RFEF overturns Vinicius’ ban
Meanwhile, the Spanish Football Federation have overturned the red card that was shown to Vinicius Jr during Real Madrid’s La Liga clash against Valencia, Daily Mirror reports.
The Brazilian winger was subjected to racist chants from home fans at the Mestalla Stadium and was also sent off by referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea in the dying minutes of the game.
The RFEF had initially fired the six VAR referees in charge of the game after it revealed they had failed to show the centre referee that full clip that led to Vinicius Junior being sent off.
