  • Real Madrid were humiliated 4-0 by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium
  • Carlo Ancelotti’s men could not find answers to City, who were all over them
  • Vinicius Jr. was not too impressed with the first goal and voiced his feelings to Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti and Vinicius Jr. appeared to have gotten in each other’s faces after Real Madrid conceded the first goal against Manchester City.

Madrid will want to forget the night quickly, as they were dominated and embarrassed by City in front of a packed Etihad Stadium.

Bernardo Silva opened the scoring in the 23rd minute before doubling it four minutes later after a miscommunication in the Los Blancos defence.

An own goal from Brazilian defender Eder Militao, and a beautiful finish from Julian Alvarez after a Phil Foden defence-splitting pass, wrapped up an embarrassing night for Madrid.

Ancelotti and Vinicius disagree

As spotted by ESPN FC, Vinicius Jr. and Ancelotti appeared to disagree after City opened the scoring through Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva.

The forward gestured with his arm and pointed to the goal scene as if he were telling his manager what went wrong in the defence.

Fans faulted Ancelotti for dropping German defender Antonio Rudiger, which may have caused the initial struggles. However, not much changed when he came on, as Madrid conceded two more goals even with him on the field.

Vinicius reveals why Madrid lost

The 22-year-old looked distraught during his post-match interview with El Chiringuito TV, via Daily Post, and revealed why his team were embarrassed.

“We lost because we have not managed to do what [Carlo] Ancelotti has asked us,” he said.

The Brazilian was one of the players who performed poorly on the night. He created zero chances and struggled to get past right-back Kyle Walker.

Modric in tears after loss

Sports Brief reported that Luka Modric was in tears during his post-match conference after the embarrassing loss to Man City.

The veteran midfielder is a five-time Champions League winner, which surprised fans as to why he was emotional. He made it clear that everything at Madrid gets amplified.

He refused to comment on his future, despite multiple reports in the Spanish media claiming he has agreed to extend his contract for another season.
